David J Gorges

David J. Gorges, 56, passed away at his home in Colwich, Kansas, on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was born to Richard and Doris Gorges on August 12, 1967 in Wichita, Kansas. David was a man of faith, a devoted Catholic who enjoyed volunteering and being a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had a vibrant personality, was onery and quite a jokester. David spent 30 years as a dedicated mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in the Wichita area. He knew no stranger, and it showed with outpouring of love shown by the people on his route, he was not just a mail carrier, but often also a friend. David was a devoted father and loving grandfather who always put his family first before himself.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Doris Gorges; daughter, Kayla Gorges; and brother, Darren Gorges.

He is survived by children, Trenton (Kirsten) Gorges, Breann Gorges, Brooke Gorges; grandchildren, Kalem, Bentley, Brixton, Brayson, Knoxleigh, Kylin, and two on the way; siblings, Donna Berry, Diana Stanhope, Deanna Dougherty, Daniel Gorges, and Damon Gorges.

A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 7:00 pm Thursday, April 4, 2024 and the Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 am on Friday, April 5, 2024, both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colwich, Kansas. Floral arrangements may be delivered directly to the church on Thursday April 4th.
