Aaron K. Nichols

Aaron Kurtley Nichols (59), passed away on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at his home near Bentley, KS

Aaron Nichols was born July 5, 1964 in Wichita, KS to Francis Lee and Glenda Nichols (Eaton). 

Growing up Aaron lived in Wichita, more importantly living at the Hiram House.  A place that provided him many opportunities to spend with his family and friends.  After graduating from West High Aaron worked several jobs before earning his CDL and going to work with his twin brother Darren at their father’s trucking company Lee Nichols Trucking.  Driving fast helped earn him the CB-handle ‘Thunderbolt’.  Aaron retired from trucking with over 25 years of service.  After trucking Aaron moved to the family property where he lived until his last day, again spending his time with family and friends.  

He is preceded in death by parents Francis and Glenda, stepparent Loree Nichols, and his twin-brother Darren Nichols.  

He is survived by his sister Rhonda Lane, sister in-law Derrial Nichols, nephews Travis (Kelly) Lane, Jared Nichols, Blake (Robyn) Nichols, 2 great-nieces and many family and friends.  

Aaron always loved classic rock, professional wrestling, peanut butter sandwiches, and pie. 

From the time he was a boy he would fish, hunt and camp, enjoyed the drive-in theater, he would spend many nights in game-rooms and pool halls, showing off his pool shooting skills, and bowling in league.  Aaron had a knack for winning radio contests.  

Aaron enjoyed spending time with his family, playing card games and having meals together was a weekly occurrence for many years.  Casino trips, the Chinese buffet, and a stop at the cd-trade post were frequent stops. Live wrestling events and concerts with his nephews and bingo with his sister were always a good time.  His favorite band was Boston and favorite wrestler was The Undertaker.   Aaron had a soft spot for animals.  He loved dogs and enjoyed giving them all the beef jerky and cookies when no one was looking.  He attended Pleasant Valley Church.  

A viewing for Aaron will be at Wulf-Ast Mortuaries, 213 W Wichita Ave, Colwich, KS 67030, on June 4, 2024 from 5-7 PM. A graveside service will be held on June 5, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, 19221 W Maple St. Goddard, KS 67052. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Aaron Nichols Memorial Fund to be designated later, left in care of the funeral home, 213 W Wichita Ave, Colwich, KS 67030.
