Agnes “Aggie” B. Metzen, 81, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
Aggie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Born in Wichita, KS, she attended school at St. Joseph Catholic School in Ost, and graduated from Garden Plain High School. She was married to her loving husband, Donald, for 60 years. Aggie spent her life making the lives of those around her better; whether through cutting hair, her love of sewing and quilting, or spending time tending the flowers in her garden for those who passed by to enjoy, but especially through the spoiling of her grand and great-grandchildren. It was this great love that made her a volunteer, and especially a supporter at so many St. Joe events over the years. This love extended to the community around her and everyone knew “Granny,” whether by the readily available hug or simply by her smile which could light up any room.
Aggie was preceded in death by her parents John and Barbara Becker, her son Greg, and her siblings: Victor Becker, Mary Bays-Smythe, and Edward Becker. She is survived by her husband: Donald, Daughter: Gloria (Mike) Puetz, Sister: Donna (Tom) Rausch, Sisters-in-law: Jeanette Becker and Brenda Becker, Grandchildren: Michalya (Skip), Mackenzie (Jagger), Madison (Adam) and Greg, and Great-grandchildren: Bexleigh, Holland, Sterling and one on the way.
Recitation of the Rosary Vigil will be at 7:00pm on Sunday, July 28, 2024, and a Funeral Mass will be at 10:30am on Monday, July 29, 2024, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ost, KS.
