Bonnie Jean Woods of Wichita, Kansas, passed peacefully the morning of Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the age of 91 years, 6 months, and 17 days after a two-year stay in the excellent care of Paramount Nursing Home of Newton, Kansas. Her oldest daughter, Tamra, was at her side at the time of her death. She was especially fond of her Hospice care team including Janna, Al, and Teresa who was also with her at the end.
Bonnie was the daughter of Clarence and Lenora Lusso of Independence, Missouri, where she was born on February 17, 1933. Her parents and her sisters Faye and Betty preceded her in death, as did both of the men she loved in her life, Ray L. Taylor and James A. Woods, and a stepson, Marty (Mart) Woods.
She is survived by six children and their spouses from those two unions, David Taylor and his wife Cyndi of Windsor, Missouri; Tamra (Taylor) Crowell and her husband Jim of Springfield, Missouri; Darrin Taylor and his wife, Jayne, of Clinton, Missouri; Dwayne Taylor and his wife, Elizabeth of Butler, Missouri; Teri (Woods) Jacobs and her husband Jake of Wichita, Kansas; and Dale Woods and his wife Kristin of Mulvane, Kansas. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.
As a homemaker, Bonnie spent much of her time raising six kids but as anyone who knew her knew, she loved getting dressed up in frilly clothes and wearing a little sparkly bling. Bonnie was a kind-hearted person who was always willing to help someone less fortunate than she was. She and her daughter, Teri, with whom she lived, often spent her days making and handing-out food for the homeless or ringing Salvation Army bells during the holidays.
Bonnie has been cremated and will be interred next to her husband, Jim, at Englewood Cemetery in Clinton, Missouri, with family in attendance on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.
