Dallas L Smith

Dallas L. Smith Jr., 88, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, in Wichita, Kansas surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 24, 1935, in Indiana to Dallas and Dolly Smith. Dallas loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting.  He also enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing as well as gardening, working on cars and refinishing furniture. Dallas met Glenda in 1955 at The Alaskan Skating Rink in Wichita where he asked not one but four times before she finally said yes to skating with him. Dallas eventually proposed to Glenda, and just like asking her to skate, it took a few times before she finally said yes. Dallas and Glenda wed in 1956 and enjoyed 67 years of marriage. Together they had three children, David, Steve and Cindy. Dallas will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Smith; children, David Smith, Steve (Deann) Smith, Cindy (Mark) Earnest; grandchildren, Sarah (Tyler) Coates, Rachel (John) Kulisz, Zachary (Bayley) Earnest, Nicholas (Becca) Earnest; great-grandchildren, Logan Kulisz, Sawyer Earnest, Ellodie Earnest; brothers, Marty (Mary Lou) Smith, Clifford (Cindy) McFarland, Mike (Becky) McFarland; and sister, Margaret Rose Unruh.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 8th at 2:00 PM at Resthaven Cemetery located at 11800 West US-54, Wichita, Kansas, 67209. Memorial Contributions may be given to the charity of donor’s choice.  Floral arrangements for the graveside service may be delivered to Wulf-Ast Mortuary, 911 Biermann, Garden Plain, Kansas 67050 on Wednesday from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
