David D. Rosenhagen, 90, a loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
David spent 45+ years working as a lineman for the Sedgwick County Electric Cooperative in Cheney, where he was known for his dedication and hard work. When he wasn’t on the job, you could find him on the farm, where he loved working the land and spending harvest seasons making memories with family and friends.
He was a familiar face in the Cheney and farming community, and folks knew to expect a little mischief when David was around. If he spotted you driving down Main Street, he’d roll down the window, throw his fist out in the air, and probably swerve a little in your direction—just to make sure you were paying attention. That was David: a little ornery, always funny, and never one to miss a chance to stir things up.
His sense of humor ran deep. At his grandson’s wedding, when the priest asked how long he’d been married to Patsy, David leaned back, smiled, and said, “Oh, I don’t know... way too long.” (For the record, it was 66 years—and she still laughed at his jokes.)
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Elsie, and his brother, John.
David is survived by his patient and loving wife of 66 years, Patsy; his children, Todd (Stacy) and Thad; his sister, Ann Koch; his grandchildren, Heath (Markie) Rosenhagen, Riley (Kirsten) Rosenhagen, and Tyler Rosenhagen; and his four great-grandchildren: Dayton, Weston, Lyla and Sutton.
A service celebrating David’s life will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Wulf-Ast Mortuary Chapel in Garden Plain.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cheney Golden Age Home, 724 N. Main Street, Cheney KS 67025 or Compassus Hospice, 301 N Main Street Ste. 250, Wichita KS 67202.
