Duane J. Barkdull, 77, went to meet his Lord and savior on April 13, 2024, in Garden Plain, Kansas, surrounded by his loving family. Duane met Maria Tinasa at Castle Air Force Base in California and they married on April 5, 1976. Together, they had three children, Duane, David, and Susan. Duane was a proud retiree from the United States Air Force where he was a Master Sergeant and A&P Technician. Following retirement, Duane worked at Learjet as an aircraft technician for 10 years and then was self employed as a HVAC technician working side by side with his lovely wife as his assistant. Duane was a good provider, a loving husband and father. He enjoyed hobbies such as camping, hunting, and fishing. He was also a wonderful friend, which is evident in many friendships that lasted decades.
Duane is preceded in death by father, Lucian Barkdull; mother, Pearl (Adams) Barkdull; siblings, Cherrill Labrum, Brent Barkdull, and Lucy Bell Ethington.
He is survived by wife of 48 years, Maria Barkdull; sons, Duane (April) Barkdull, David (Christina) Boydstun; daughter, Susan (Rick) Cross and grandchildren, Sylvia, Ryan, Aubree, and Allison Barkdull; siblings, Sonya (Jerry) Kearns, Buddy (Amelia) Barkdull.
A memorial service will be held at the Wulf-Ast Mortuary Chapel in Garden Plain, Kansas at 10:30 am on Friday, April 19th, 2024, followed by an inurnment at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas at 3:00 pm.
