Emanuel Ast Obituary

Emanuel C. Ast, 89, of Kingman, Kansas, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. He was born on March 9, 1936, to Joseph Jr. and Marie (Hermes) Ast. Emanuel spent his childhood on a farm near St. Joe, Ost, Kansas, and graduated from Andale High School in 1954.

In 1957, he married Margaret Clasen. They made their home east of Goddard, Kansas, where they farmed and raised four children. Emanuel was self-employed for most of his life and was known as a talented and meticulous carpenter. In 2009, he married Betty (Paney) Meng, and together they resided in Kingman, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Denise Craren; son, Brian Ast; grandson, Brent Orth; brother, Kenneth Ast; sisters, Anacleta Mannebach and Marlene Ast; and one step-grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of Kingman; daughters, Debbie (Dave) Workman and Becky (Tim) Casey, both of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Stacy (Ben) Pryor, Lori (Keith Langstaff) Wilbanks, Jessica (Ross) Reichenberger, Michael (Amelia) Workman, and Kelly Workman; and great grandchildren, Carson Workman Cambria Langstaff, Jaxson and Kyndall Wilbanks, Bo and Collins Pryor, and Harper and Maddox Reichenberger. He is also survived by sisters, Colette Van Niman and Jelene (Stan Koehler) Grady; and brother, Duane Ast.

Additional survivors include stepchildren, Cindy (Lloyd) Powell, John (Mary) Meng, Bill Meng, Steve (Kellee) Meng, and Kendra (Greg) Aistrup; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025 and the Funeral Mass will be held at 10;30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 both St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kingman, Kansas. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: St. Patrick Catholic Church Capital Campaign 638 W.
