Janet Kathleen DeVore

Janet Kathleen DeVore, age 89, passed away September 13, 2024 in Wichita, KS surrounded by family. She was born February 15, 1935 at McPherson, KS, the daughter of John Wesley and Laura Genevieve Rader. Janet received a Bachelor’s Degree from Fort Hays State College and on July 22, 1956 she married Galyn DeVore at Ellis, KS. She was a member of the Cheney Methodist Church and a resident of Cheney since 2008. She is survived by her son Clint DeVore (Stacy) Cheney, KS; three grandchildren Tiane DeVore (Parker Liebl), Jaden DeVore (Shanna), Camryn DeVore; four great grandchildren, Lincoln Liebl, Blakely, Austyn, and Shade DeVore; sister Roselyn Mesplay. Janet was preceded in death by her husband Galyn DeVore, son Derek DeVore and grandson Destin DeVore.

Janet grew up in Ellis, KS attending and graduating from Ellis High School and Fort Hays State College where she met and married Galyn DeVore. She taught English at Jetmore and Greensburg and assisted with the family auction and custom harvesting businesses. She loved to read, work on prayer shawls and spend time with her family.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday Sept 24, 2024 at Cheney Methodist Church, Cheney KS, Pastor Aaron Duell presiding. Following with a graveside service at 2:30 pm at Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, KS.
