Joyce Lee Livingston-Lewis

Joyce Lee Livingston-Lewis, 94, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, in Wichita, Kansas. Joyce, the beloved daughter of Louis and Dorothy Sampson and sister to Sharon was born on July 5, 1930 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Joyce married Donald Livingston in 1948, relishing 56 wonderful years together until his passing. She and Don raised their children in Wichita, Kansas instilling their love of the Lord in their family. They were involved in Youth for Christ and instrumental in the beginnings of Calvary Bible Church. Don and Joyce retired to Council Grove, Kansas, in 1982. During their time in Council Grove, they attended the Church of Christ-Christian and loved participating in the church choir. After Don's passing, she moved back to Wichita to be near her children.
In 2008, she married Dale Lewis, who preceded her in death in 2023. She and Dale were very involved in Central Community Church, where they led the Motivators Sunday School service and ministered to many seniors in hospitals and care homes.
Joyce held many dream jobs from working for Boeing, Wonder Bread bakery, Village Tours and also owned The Joyce Livingston Shop. Most notably, she hosted “The Joyce Livingston Show” on KTVH 12 television (now KWCH) in Wichita, Kansas, for 18 years. She was also a prolific author; publishing quilting books, magazine articles, cookbooks and over 30 inspirational romance novels. Joyce was an extremely gifted woman creating stained glass windows and lamps, woven rugs, quilts, quilted apparel, and much more. Additionally, Joyce traveled across the United States sharing her passion and talent for quilting. Her family always admired her joyful attitude. It seemed there was nothing she couldn't accomplish or create.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Don, Jr., and Matthew; daughter-in-law, Helen Livingston; and son-in-law, Walter Leyba. She is survived by her children; Dawn Lee Johnson, Dari Leyba, Mark (Catherine) Livingston, Luke (Tammie ) Livingston, and daughter-in-law, Sherry Livingston. Joyce was a proud grandmother to 25 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Joyce's life will be held on August 23, 1 PM at Central Community Church in Wichita. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but we celebrate knowing she lived a full life and is now with her Heavenly Father.
