Kelly Lee Capansky, 58, of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, passed away on April 28th, 2024 . He was born on August 3rd, 1965, in Hardtner, Kansas, to his loving parents, Shelly Ann Pelzl-Chain (Capansky) and the late Edwin Lee Capansky.
Kelly attended and graduated from Medicine Lodge High School. He dedicated many years of his life to his work as an equipment operator and roustabout, contributing his skills to various companies, including Pickeral Drilling, Co-owning Shawnee Lease Service LLC, and Elk Transport.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Kelly found joy in his family life. He met his former wife, Patsy Peitz-Lannon (Capansky), and together they welcomed two beautiful daughters, Cassady Jo (preceded in death) and Keri Lynne. Kelly cherished his entire family and everyone of his friends and was devoted to providing love and support to anyone who needed it.
Throughout his lifetime, Kelly was actively involved in various clubs, including the American Trap and Sons of the American Legion. He was a loyal and beloved member of the Legion Riders, where he formed lasting friendships and shared his passion for motorcycles and camaraderie.
Kelly had many interests and hobbies that brought him happiness. He was an avid pheasant and quail hunter, enjoyed shooting trap, and loved spending time fishing. In his younger years, he found excitement in building and running derby cars, creating memories that he cherished.
Kelly is survived by his mother, Shelly Ann Pelzl-Chain; his daughter, Keri Lynne Mueller and husband Andrew Mueller; his sister, Kimberly Barr and husband Mark Barr; his brother, Tom Chain and wife Kim Chain; his sister, Tonya Peitz and husband Ron Peitz; his sister, Shala Wood and husband Vince Wood; sister Sheryl Haynes; several cherished nieces and nephews; three grandchildren and his beloved companion, Gypsy.
He is preceded in death by his fathers Dale Chain; Edwin Lee Capansky and his beloved wife Patricia Capansky; daughter Cassady Jo Capansky.
Kelly will be remembered for his kind heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories that will be forever treasured by those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service to celebrate Kelly's life will be held at The First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge at 2pm on May 10th followed by the graveside in Hardtner.
