Lawrence “Blackie” Seiwert entered into the arms of Jesus and was reunited with his beloved wife, Jean Marie (Scheer), on Friday, May 2, 2025. Affectionately nicknamed “Blackie” in his youth for his jet-black hair, he was born on December 16, 1937, in Schulte, Kansas, to Lawrence and Anna (Becker) Seiwert.
In November 1957, Blackie married the love of his life, and together they shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage. Known for his ornery spirit and endless stories, Blackie had a few different career paths, but he was best known for his 30+ years as a salesman with Truck Parts & Equipment.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Dale (Linda) Seiwert, Chris (Deanna) Seiwert, Dan Seiwert, Laurie (Vince) Treat, Vickie (Bill) Callahan, and Lisa (Keith) Hansen; along with 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2025 and Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7th, 2025, both at St. Anthony of Padua in Garden Plain, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony’s Pro-Life Outreach (615 N. Main Garden Plain, Kansas 67050).
