Lawrence "Larry" Bishop Obituary

Lawrence Dale Bishop, known to those who loved him as Larry, passed away on April 8, 2026, at the age of 63. Born in Salina, Kansas, on May 30, 1962, Larry spent his childhood in Abilene before building a life and career rooted in hard work, family, and the simple joys that brought him peace.
Larry worked for many years as a roofer, a trade that took him across Wichita, Kansas, and to various parts of the country. He took pride in his craft and the dedication it required. Outside of work, Larry found his greatest joy in fishing. He devoted countless hours to the water, often accompanied by his loyal dog, Taz, who was not only his best friend but also his favorite fishing buddy.
Larry had a deep and abiding love for his mother, Charlotte, a bond that remained steady throughout his life and brought him great comfort.
Following a long illness, Larry lived in a nursing home until his daughter welcomed him into her home in Ellsworth, Kansas. He was lovingly cared for by his daughter, Honesty McBride, and shared his days with his grandson Tyson. He was surrounded by their love at the time of his passing.
Larry is survived by his mother, Charlotte Sund, and his stepfather, John Wilson; his sister and brother‑in‑law, Katrina and Ronald Calcote; and his son, Dustin Bishop, all of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by his stepson, Ricky McBride of Lubbock, Texas; his daughter, Honesty, and grandchildren Brooklynn, Tyson, and Quinncy of Salina, Kansas. Larry treasured the time he spent with his great‑grandchildren, Maddox and Serenitee, also of Salina.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Bishop, and his brother, David Sund.
Arrangements will be announced at a later date
