Loretta Lucille Nordlund 74, of Salina Kansas, passed peacefully with her daughter Rhonda and beloved niece Melissa at her bedside at the Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kansas, on May 17, 2026 Born March 20, 1952, in Salina, Kansas,
Loretta was the proud mother of three daughters, Rhonda Schur Hutchinson and twins Stephanie and Stacie Walle of Salina, Kansas. Loretta is also survived by her grandchildren
Quenton Schur; Georgia, Tiffany Schur Minneapolis, Kansas; Justice Holzhuter Salina, Kansas; Chance Dewitt Austin, Texas; and Jaycee Dewitt of Salina, Kansas. great-grandchildren Axton, Parker, Jacelyn,Audrina, and Hazel.
siblings Margret Musgrove, Micheal Nordlund, Karen Barkley, Steve Smith, Judy Rhodenbaugh and June Muir, along with many nieces and nephews who will miss her spunky spirit and quick wit.
Loretta was preceded in death by husband, Stanley; her father, Jack Nordlund Sr.; mother, Julia Smith; brother, Jack; and nephews Micheal, Curtis & Robert Musgrove and Cody Nordlund.
Anyone who knew Loretta knew she was the life of the party. Funny, fearless, and wonderfully unfiltered, she loved rock & roll and going full tilt boogie. Her energy, humor, and larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
In her final days, Loretta celebrated life surrounded by family, joyfully sharing that she would soon be with Jesus. One of her family’s most treasured memories will be helping her enjoy one last dance to Tom Petty’s “Last Dance,” a moment filled with love, laughter, and peace.
Per Loretta’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at Lindsborg Elmwood Cemetery on May 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County Hospice House.
