Mary Brown Obituary

CHENEY - Brown, Mary Ann, 85, departed this life, Dec. 21, 2012. Born Nov. 4, 1927 in Denver, Colo., to parents, Frank and Minnie Benson. Mary Ann married Cecil Brown on Nov. 18, 1945 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage before he passed away in 2006. They were engaged in farming near Belmont in their early married life and then moved to Cheney to open the Gambles Store. Mary Ann was an active partner in the business venture from the beginning. She felt she had the best of both worlds as she could leave the business to take on her first love and best role of being a mother to Cecelia, Deanna and Roger. As her health declined in 2006, she moved into the Cheney Golden Age Home where she resided until her death. Being a grandmother was definitely a role that suited her as she showered love on each and every one of her eight grandchildren and their offspring of 18 great-grandchildren. Her family was a great joy and comfort to her as well as her faith. Mary Ann was a member of the Cheney United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities in the United Methodist Women, teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir. She loved music and saw to it that her children has a deep appreciation for it also. Her faith was strong and fear was never a concern as she approached her end of life knowing her splendid destination. Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil, her daughter, Cecelia Rosenhagen, and a brother, Stanley "Bud" Benson. She is survived by daughter and husband, Deanna and Michael Hedrick, of rural Clearwater; son and wife, Roger and Sue Brown, Cheney; and son-in-law and wife, Renard and Patty Rosenhagen of rural Kingman; 8 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends. Visitation. 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, with family present from 6-8 p.m., Wulf-Ast Mortuary, Garden Plain. Memorial Service, 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Cheney United Methodist Church. Burial, Fairview Cememtery in Cheney. Memorials may be made to the Cheney United Methodist Church or the Cheney Golden Age Home.
