Nancy Cook Obituary

Nancy Marie Cook, 75, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas. Born on February 5, 1950, also in Wichita, Nancy spent her life rooted in the community she loved and served with unwavering dedication.

Nancy’s journey in nursing was both long and impactful. After earning her Master of Science in Nursing from Wichita State University in 1996, she devoted over three decades to the profession. Her career began at St. Francis Hospital, where she worked across various units, offering compassionate care to countless patients. In the later years of her career, she served as an APRN Nurse Case Manager, guiding patients through complex healthcare needs with empathy and expertise. Beyond clinical work, Nancy shared her knowledge and passion for nursing by teaching at Newman University in Wichita, shaping the next generation of caregivers.

A woman of deep faith, Nancy was a devout Presbyterian throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Bethel Presbyterian Church until its closure and then continued her spiritual journey with New Hope Christian Church. Nancy attended Friends University where she studied Organ and Sacred Music and was a member of the Singing Quakers. Her love for Gospel music found expression through her talent for playing both piano and organ during church services—an offering that brought joy to many.

Nancy’s generosity extended far beyond her professional and spiritual commitments. She lived by the principle of “Pay it Forward,” always seeking ways to help others without expecting recognition or praise. Whether through small acts of kindness or steadfast support during difficult times, Nancy touched many lives with her quiet strength and giving spirit.

She is survived by her two children, Megan Cook and Mica Cook; five grandchildren: Christian Cook, Taylor Cook, Isabel Cook-Detar, Roman Andreas, and Kaleb Cook; one sister, Mary Anne Scott; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members who will carry forward her legacy of compassion and service.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband; Jerry Cook, her son; Sean Cook; her parents David and Rosalie Reschke; nephew David Scott; and great-nephew Zachary Fuller.

In accordance with Nancy’s wishes, she has been cremated and will be interred at a later date. Please join in celebrating Nancy’s long and full life—a life marked by devotion to family, faith, healing, and selfless service.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 23, 2025, at 10:30 AM at New Hope Christian Church - 1400 George Washington Drive, Wichita, KS 67211.  For those who are unable to physically attend, service will be live-streamed and recorded via Zoom.
