Patricia Ann (Thimmesch) Gruenbacher

Patricia Ann Gruenbacher, age 96, passed away March 26, 2026.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Patricia was born on December 13, 1929, in Ost, Kansas to Carl and Ida (Doffing) Thimmesch.  On October 19, 1948, she married Walter Gruenbacher at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ost, Kansas.  They celebrated 75 years together before his passing on April 16, 2024.  Patricia was a homemaker as well as an active member of the parish Altar Society.  She was  a faithful Adoration adorer for many years.  She enjoyed playing in card groups as a hobby and as a social avenue. 

She is survived by her brother, Carl Thimmesch Jr; her son, Dennis Gruenbacher (Suzanne); daughters, Wilma (Michael) Kreitler, Kathleen May and Virginia (Michael) Patry; her 11 grandchildren, Shelley Stucky, Brent Gruenbacher, Kraig Kreitler, Krista Bloesing, Kimberly Brown, Troy May, Tamie May, Tonya May, Scott Patry, Clint Patry and Jill Thompson; and her 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her two sisters, Rosemary Gruenbacher and Mary Jeanette Thimmesch; as well as her son-in-law, Victor May.

Memorials have been established with St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church (645 N. 119th W, Wichita, Kansas 67235); and Sacred Heart Catholic Church (311 South 5th St, Colwich, Kansas 67030).

Visitation with family present will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Wulf-Ast Mortuary in Colwich, Ks.

Recitation of the rosary will said at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 645 N 119th Street West, Wichita 67235.  The funeral mass will follow at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be 1:30 PM in the Sacred Heart Cemetery-Colwich, KS.
