Ralph Oxendine Obituary

Ralph David Oxendine, 89, of Cheney, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28th, 2024 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center.

Ralph was born on July 7th, 1934 in Pierce City, Missouri. He was the son of Charley A. Oxendine and Edna Lucile Oxendine. Ralph graduated from Midway High School in 1952. He enlisted with the Army in February of 1957. He served in Germany until February of 1960, and was a reservist until February 1963. Before leaving for Germany, he married the love of his life, Joan Oxendine on May 3, 1957. They were married for sixty-five years before she passed on October 28, 2022. 

He worked for Associated Grocers for thirty plus years, leaving there in 1988. He then entered into the aircraft industry, where he retired from Boeing in 1999. Aside from working full time, he also had a farm where from 1972-1989 he raised swine and then in 1989 he transitioned to raising cattle, and was involved with cattle until he sold off his herd in January of 2021. 

Ralph is survived by his three children, Beverly Ann (Rick) Looslie of Loma Linda, Missouri, Steven Brian (Sue Cowan) Oxendine, of Wichita, and Larry Alan (Danine Russel) Oxendine, of Cheney, and six grandchildren: Jessica Cottingham (Tim), Elizabeth McClary (Landon), Nathan Oxendine (Jessica), Jonathan Oxendine, Brian Oxendine (Emily), and Larry Oxendine, Jr. (Candyce); three great-grandsons, one of which will be arriving soon, six great-granddaughters, two sisters, Naomi White and Norma Loveland, and other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leon.

The funeral service will be at the Wulf-Ast Mortuary, 911 Biermann, Garden Plain, Kansas, on Saturday, February 10th, 2024. There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., and the service will begin at 11:00 A.M., with a graveside service to follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Cheney.
