Randy Cook Obituary

Randy Brent Cook passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at 4:35 p.m., surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Valeria (Sutton) Cook; his beloved wife, Julie Cook; his brother, Darran Cook; his father-in-law, Newt Ward; and his nephews, Hayden Cook and Conner Ward.

He is survived by his son, Jake Cook (Angela Cook); his daughter, Amanda Gorges (Shane Gorges); and his grandchildren: Noah Gorges, Emmarie Cook, Noah Roark, Chase Cook, Jacob Cook, and Magdalen Cook. Randy is also survived by his mother-in-law, Diane Ward; brother-in-law, Darren Ward; sisters-in-law, Jill Ward and Susan Cook; nephew, Harrison Cook; nieces, Sydney Cook, Ashley Ward, and Emily Ward; and two great-nephews.

Randy was a man known for his unwavering love for his family, his patience, and his quiet strength. He was always there when you needed him — whether it was offering a helping hand, sharing a word of advice, or simply being a good listener. His greatest joy was his family, and he treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren.

Randy graduated from Buhler High School in May 1979 and went on to attend Hutchinson Community College. On November 11, 1989, he married the love of his life, Julie K. Ward.

He worked alongside his father, brother, and son in the family business, Wholesale Siding Supply, where he developed a lifelong passion for siding and home construction. Randy later joined Alside, where he received numerous honors — including recurring Customer Obsession Awards — and earned a reputation as a true expert in the industry. Often called the “siding guru,” Randy had an incredible ability to touch a piece of siding and tell you everything about it — from when and where it was produced to when it was discontinued.

Though his retirement was considered a great loss to the siding industry, Randy never stopped sharing his knowledge. His phone continued to ring with calls and texts from friends, colleagues, and even strangers who had been told, “Take this to Randy — he will know.” Helping others was never a burden to him; it was simply part of who he was.

Randy’s passing leaves an immeasurable void, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with Julie, his beloved wife, and that his legacy of love, strength, and generosity will continue to guide them.

The recitation of the rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 24th, 2025 and the funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 25th, 2025 both at St. Joseph Catholic Church (318 Rush Ave. Andale, Kansas 67001).
