Stephen “Steve” Kammerer, passed away at his home surrounded by his family, September 8, 2024 at the age of 77. He was born in Wichita, KS to Paul and Opal (Dazey) Kammerer on November 28, 1946.
Steve started his career in banking in 1969 and remained until retirement in 2015. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy as a Helicopter Crewman during the Vietnam era. For many years after his service, he pursued his love of Dirt Track Racing, winning many championships, including 81 Speedway, during the 70’s. He was a kind and loving man who loved his family. He married Cheryl Robinson on April 19, 2003.
He is survived by: his wife, Cheryl; his children, Marci (Rachael) Dameron and Teri Parker; his bonus sons, Bret (Pam) Robinson and Chad (Tiffany) Robinson; his grandchildren, Maylee and Robert Dameron, Alec and Stephen Parker, Emileigh Robinson (Seth Messner), Caitlin (Tanner) Strube, Braeden and Colbie Robinson and Avery Aaron; his great-granddaughter, Elsa Parker; his sister, Ruth Ann Cuda; and his nephews, Curtis and Daren Cuda and their families.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and the early loss of his only son, Brian, which was his greatest heartbreak.
A Celebration of Steve’s life will be held at a later date.
