Thomas Ned Ashley

Thomas Ned Ashley, age 71, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Smith Center, Kansas on April 13, 1953. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, George J. and Victoria Alma Jean Ashley, and one nephew.

Thomas spent his childhood in Russell and Plainville, Kansas, graduating from Plainville High School in 1972. He then attended Technical College in Salina, where he studied to become a Diesel Technician. He dedicated 46+ years of his life to his profession, showcasing his commitment and expertise until his retirement in 2019.

He was the beloved husband of Melba Ashley and a devoted father to his son, Jacob Ashley (Marcy Ashley), Casey Ashley, Brandon Cole, and Chad Cole. Thomas was also a cherished grandfather to Thomas, Lucas, and Ella Ashley, Gavin Cole, and Aiden Jensen.

He is survived by his siblings, Patricia Cussen (Tom) of Tyler, Texas, and Sue Halsey (Kevin) of Wichita, Kansas, as well as one nephew and six nieces.

Thomas had a passion for various hobbies, including backyard projects, welding art, shooting, and grilling dinner for his family and friends. He found joy in attending his grandkids' sporting events, showing his unwavering support and love for them.

Known for his ingenuity and craftsmanship, Thomas was a collector and fixer of all manner of things. His resourcefulness and dedication were evident in everything he did, and his love for his family knew no bounds.
