Thomas Laurayne (Jr.) Medill

Thomas L. Medill, Jr., born May 7, 1929 in Leavenworth, KS died March 26, 2024.  His parents Thomas L. Medill and Marie Hines Medill predeceased him in death. 

He was married to Jean Sponable Medill who died September 1, 1957 of Leukemia.  Two children were born of this marriage:  Susan Smythe and Carol Medill. 

He married Joan Suellentrop Medill who died November 12, 2003 of Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS).  Four children were born of this marriage:  Judy Jackson, Steve Medill, Sally Ediger and Molly Medill.  Molly Medill died as an infant.

He leaves ten grandchildren:  Emily Smythe Angelo (Tom), Chris Smythe (Candice), Ryan Jackson, Rachel Jackson, Rose Medill, Kathleen Medill, Josie Medill, Matthew Medill, Jacob Ediger (Sarah), Brandon Ediger (Emmy), and two great-grandchildren:  Abbie Angelo and Graham Angelo.

Before he retired, he practiced law in Seneca, KS for over forty years.  He was a Korean War Veteran serving in Japan and was a member of the American Legion and VFW post of Seneca, KS.
