Wayne D. Castor

Wayne DeWitt Castor of Cheney died on April 16, 2025. He was born Oct. 2, 1950, in Wichita, and grew up in Conway Springs.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Cheney Methodist Church in Cheney. Interment will follow at Vinita Cemetery, west of Cheney in rural Kingman County.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence B. Castor and Louise (Branch) Castor; brother, Frank Castor; brother-in-law, Bill Mote; sister-in-law, Sharon Castor; and nephew, Mike Castor.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Valorie; children, Amie Castor, Dennis Castor (Barbie), April Lord, Jeffrey Castor and Olivia Castor; grandchildren, Meadow Zimmermann, Ashley and Sean Castor, and Canyon and Wyatt Lord; brothers, Joe Castor (Merry), and Tom Castor (Marti); and sister, Suzanne Mote.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Wayne worked at different jobs throughout his life, including as a construction worker, semi-truck driver, at an auto parts store, as a police officer in Garden Plain and Cheney, and delivering school buses and ambulances to different states.

He loved Studebaker cars and owned several throughout his life.

We will miss his sense of humor and his stories. He always had stories from his childhood to tell. He will be missed forevermore.
